DAILY SUMMARY
2026-04-06
Monday delivered surprisingly strong conditions that defied the cooler forecast, producing the fourth valid competition day. After overnight temperatures dropped to around 12°C, the morning began partly sunny with a brisk northwesterly wind gusting up to 40 km/h. Temperatures climbed from 14°C at briefing time to a high of 17°C by early afternoon - excellent for thermals and ridge flying. Scattered clouds developed over the task area through midday, and conditions strengthened beyond expectations, with most gliders reaching altitudes above 2000m QNH.
Club Class saw Michal Lešinger (LL) claim his third day win of the competition in the ASW-20, posting the top speed of 105.66 km/h over 219 km for all 628 points. Felix Kries (K) in the Glasflügel 303 Mosquito took 2nd (100.31 km/h, 216 km, 591 pts), while Roman Petro (101) put in a strong showing in the Pegase C-101A for 3rd (94.37 km/h, 191 km, 567 pts). Mateusz Kruszyński (TF) finished 4th with 525 points. Overall, Lešinger's dominance continues - his total of 1,529 points gives him a commanding 212-point lead over Kruszyński (1,317 pts). Kries moves up to 3rd overall with 1,158 pts.
15m Class produced the closest racing of the day. Jan Pavlík (JW) and Miloslav Cink (JB), both in LS-8s, flew virtually identical races again - starting together at 13:55, finishing just 4 seconds apart, with Pavlík edging it at 113.00 km/h (232 km, 619 pts) to Cink's 112.52 km/h (232 km, 614 pts). Karel Novák (AX) in the Ventus 2a posted the highest raw speed of the class at 117.63 km/h over 238 km but placed 3rd on handicap with 607 points. Jana Treslová (C6) took 4th with 497 pts. The overall standings remain razor-tight: Pavlík leads with 1,196 pts, just 8 points ahead of Cink on 1,188 pts. Novák sits 3rd at 1,123 pts.
Open Class was won by home favourite Vladimír Foltín (3) from Slovakia, flying his JS3 18m to the day's top result - 126.09 km/h over 261 km for 560 points. The Austrian crew of Janowitsch & Schwan (13) in the Arcus M were just 3 points behind at 557 pts (119.77 km/h, 253 km), followed closely by Pavel Jiránek (CS) at 554 pts (119.43 km/h, 266 km). It was a remarkably tight finish - the top 6 were covered by just 32 points. Overall leader Tomáš Rendla (EZ) placed 7th on the day with 512 pts but comfortably holds the overall lead with 1,356 pts. Janowitsch & Schwan move into 2nd overall at 1,300, with Petr Krejčiřík (ZE) 3rd at 1,282.
Pilots who read the conditions early and combined ridge lift with the unexpectedly strong thermals were clearly rewarded with the highest speeds.
