We have the first contest day over. But what is important, it was a flying day! That might have been not that extraordinary if not knowing the weather conditions in the morning and also the weather forecast. After opening briefing we had another one later on at 12:00 to see if there is task or we stay on the ground. Sharing the task sheets was a great surprise and many of the pilots did not have things ready at all. Nevertheless, at 13:45 we started launching into the sky full of Cumuluses. BUT, as everything was changing rapidly. The pilots of 15M class who were starting the first took the major advantage, heading to the mountainous north. The other classes had more problems to find the optimal way, especially because of a rapid weather change. We were receiving outlanding reports from CLUB class as the first and with a high frequency. OPEN class was fighting better but many engine-equiped were forced to use it. Tricky – that was a descriptive word. They had to be strategic, make rapid decisions, use all possible gained knowledge and experience. Several clouds in a row did not give any hope, than came another with 2,5m climb. Did they enjoy? Depends on the taste, but we saw a lot of positive feedback and smiling faces at the Nitra airport. The conclusion? Pribina Cup showed another weather miracle today!
