When taking into consideration the weather just to make us feel comfortable, today was probably the most pleasant day. No or only very mild wind, warm, no rain. Yes, but experienced eyes of the organizers as well as of the pilots saw the situation differently. The sky was perfectly covered with thick layer of Alto- and Stratocumulus. In the morning we were hoping this will improve slowly, that the clouds moving to our area from Hungary will clear up in the afternoon. This was the prediction at 9:00 briefing. Besides all the optimism we also found 3 pilots celebrating their birthday. And another triple on the podium – the daily winners from Wednesday. We had another 2 hours to monitor the weather situation development and receive the tasks for today. It was clear, North is not flyable, some chances are in the South. The first launching was announced at 12:00, the gliders got ready on the grid. But no sign of Cumulus yet. We heart “the first launch will be postponed…“ several times on the radio. Before 2pm Vladimir took the final decision. The day is cancelled. Some pilots stayed on the runway to fly some thermal but this was surely not for longer distance competition. Tomorrow seems to be very very positive, We will see what will be offered to us.
