Competition - 22nd Apr 2025

The day 5th at Pribina Cup 2025 in Nitra began with the familiar sight of the grid opening this time operating from Runway 33. However, the anticipated first launch of 12:00 was held back as we awaited the development of suitable thermal activity. The initial racing tasks, ranging from 227 to 314 km and guiding pilots towards the Czech border, around the Tribeč mountains, with a final turnpoint near the Velká Fatra, were adjusted due to the delayed launch. Ultimately, the tasks were revised to Variant B – Area Assigned Tasks (AAT) for all classes, with the first launch eventually taking place at 13:00. Despite the weaker thermal conditions encountered after launch, the majority of our skilled pilots managed to navigate their way onto their respective tasks, successfully finding better weather conditions in the northern sectors of the course. As the afternoon progressed, the fruits of their perseverance became evident, with the first competitors embarking on their crucial final glides back towards Nitra. The later part of the afternoon saw the remaining competitors completing their tasks, with reports suggesting that the gliding weather improved significantly on the final leg, allowing for rewarding and extended final glides. By 18:15, all gliders were accounted for, safely back on the ground after a day that tested their patience and rewarded their skill in adapting to the challenging early conditions.
