Competition - 2nd Jul 2009

Day 4 was very difficult. First, the heat prior to take-off was very heavy and tiring.

Those who waited too long to start were penalised by the fading conditions and though there were only a few real outlandings (featuring fields and scenic tours with trailers - Slovakia in summer is especially pretty as the sun sets over the sunflowers!), several people were only able to return with the help of their engines.

Times were very slow and while the 18m class winner, Arne Boye Moller, Denmark, and Jeremiasse of NL in Open each received 1000 points, Gulyas of Hungary, 1st in 15m, received only 938.

I hope the radio conflict between the tower and the Dutch team has been resolved. Whenever the tower transmitted yesterday, the Dutch frequency was invaded by a blast of static, blotting out their communications. And, whenever the Dutch team manager was seen to speak into her radio, her words were broadcast over the tower microphone!
