Competition - 30th Jul 2011
2011-07-30 20:28:33
The competition is over and most pilots have already left. The airport looks completely different than yesterday. It is empty, quiet and I cannot help myself but to admit that it is quite sad looking. We hope you had a great time here and you will come back to Nitra again some day. Good Bye!

Despite big hope the day is not valid. Pilots tried their best, unfortunatelly the conditions were weak and they were not able to finish the task. We would like to say big thank you to all pilots who fight the chance to have a valid contest. There will be awarding ceremony for best pilots overall around 18:00 when the pilots are back. See you then.

The other three pilots are still flying. We have seen them turning the second area just recently with a decent altitude. Italian W1 in lead closely followed by locals M8 and M7.

The start line is open. Some pilots are already on the track.

All gliders are in the air. The sky is cloudy and the wind is strong. Despite that it seems like today´s discipline will be a nice ridge race :)

Starts are confirmed to 12:00 loc.

The Briefing is over and the tasks have been handed out. Assigned area task with the task time of 2 hours and distance from 100km to almost 170km. The task is aiming along the hills to use the possibility of ridge flying. First launch is planned for 12:00. The wind is still very strong.
2011-07-30 10:36:55
Flat cumulus fractus are visible above Nitra with low bases around 1000m.Though we do not expected their thermal activity to be strong enough for soaring. The wind is strong, 7 meters per second from the northwest. The task is already prepared. More information after the briefing.

Good Morning!
There is a rainy weather in the east part of Slovakia and a frontal system is approaching from the west but it seems like the window located above our area should enable the world class to compete today. Grid is for runway 33. Grid time is 12:15. Briefing is scheduled for 11:00. See you all there:)
